The Texas International Institute of Health Professions (TIIHP)

The Texas International Institute of Health Professions (TIIHP), dba VCare Clinics, is a non-profit community-based organization registered as 501 (c) (3) with the Internal Revenue Services. TIIHP is also certified by the Texas Medical Board as non-profit healthcare organization under chapter 177 of the Board’s rules and section 162.001 of the Medical Practice Act in the State of Texas.

The mission of The Texas International Institute of Health Professions is to provide equitable and affordable access to high-quality primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care services to low-income and uninsured families regardless of their ability to pay.

The Texas International Institute of Health Professions commenced its operation in 2012 and provides comprehensive and integrated primary health care, family health, dental and specialty care services to low-income and uninsured Texans. Since its inception, VCare has provided services to more than 350,000 patients through its three community clinics in Texas (Pasadena, Houston, and Carrollton). These clinics provide high-quality, affordable, accessible, and equitable health care services to poverty-stricken men, women and children of Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Denton, and Dallas Counties. Last year VCare Clinics served more than 32,000 patients and expects to serve over 35,000 families this year.

The VCare patient population is very diverse; 94% is uninsured, over 90% has no dental coverage, and 82% of patients visiting our centers live below 200% Federal Poverty Level. Low-income minority women account for 58% of our clients and 22% are poverty-stricken children who access our services. Our patient population is plagued with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity.

VCare Clinics collaborates with MD Anderson Cancer Center to provide free screening skin cancer screenings, colon cancer screenings, and screening mammograms for low-income, uninsured patients.  VCare Clinics refers patients to the University of Houston Eye Institute for low cost eye exams.
VCare Clinics also collaborates with Texas Human and Health Services (HHS) to provide no-cost programs to qualifying patients: Family Planning Program and Healthy Texas Women.  These programs provide services that include reproductive health, appropriate family planning, cancer detection, and control of non-communicable diseases. Title V funding is a special program funded for low income, poverty-stricken and uninsured children to access health care services. The eligible children get FREE medical and dental services, free annual checks, dental care, and sick visits.  TIIHP, dba VCare Clinics, is also a contractor of  the Texas Department of Health Services for The Epilepsy Program.
